3 April 2007 Free PDF workflow testing from the Ghent PDF Workgroup
The Ghent PDF Workgroup has released their Ghent Output Suite, a free tool to test the ability of print workflows to handle PDF files properly in production. The Ghent Output Suite is used to test and certify workflows, certifying them as being compliant with the latest PDF standards. The suite can be downloaded free of charge from the Ghent Workgroup's site: www.gwg.org.

31 March 2007 Adobe releases Creative Suite 3
Adobe is calling this their "biggest launch in Adobe’s 25 year history". The new version of Creative Suite integrates what were Macromedia applications (following Adobe's acquisition of Macromedia in April 2005) and also is reported to have enhanced performance running under both Windows (including Vista) and Intel-based Macs.

March 2007 Northprint 2007
Northprint 2007 will feature over 100 exhibitors in the print, packaging, and graphics communication industries. Free presentations include print buyer workshops organised by PrintBuyer magazine on the following topics: 'Environmental Update', 'Protecting Your Brand', 'The Power of Digital', 'How to Keep Your Customers Happy', and 'Creative Printing Opportunities'. Northprint will be in Harrogate, UK, 24-26 April.

17 February 2007 Future of Direct Mail - study by InfoTrends
InfoTrends has released the results of their recent study on direct mail, transactional documents and 'transpromotional' documents: Customers show a vast preference for direct mail over other methods of direct marketing such as email. In the electronic sphere, marketers are increasingly reaching consumers via mobile devices such as phones or PDAs.

22 January 2007 Dscoop 2007 Conference
Dscoop, the community of HP Indigo press owners, is to host their second annual conference 1-3 February 2007 in Tampa, Florida. The conference will feature more than 50 educational seminars as well as previews of new product offerings from industry partners such as CREO, Duplo, Fiberweb and GPA.

10 January 2007 New services from FedEx Kinko's: Direct Mail and Print Online
FedEx Kinko's new Print Online service enables their customers to digitally submit documents for print, as well as to select from extensive printing and finishing options, track order status, reuse saved print jobs, and review order history. With their Direct Mail service they are offering management of direct mail campaigns from start to finish, including planning, creating, printing and mailing in a variety of formats.
