Frequently Asked Questions about Web4Print

Do I need design skills to create templates?

No. It would be useful to have some graphic design or desktop publishing (DTP) skills and experience, but you can consult the Web4Print documentation and the extensive online-help system to learn how to use Web4Print. You can also register for a free evaluation of Web4Print to get hands-on experience.

What is variable content?

This is a key feature of Web4Print. A master template of a brochure, for example, is created by the designer at the print provider or corporate head office. Web4Print allows the user to select text or picture elements that can be variable from one document to another. Variable text can be defined as free-format (to be input by the user) or selected from a pre-defined list of options. Variable fields can link to other variable fields to be changed automatically.

Any authorised user can then log on to the web server, access their job and change the images, contact details or other text, by filling in simple boxes. This ensures that the corporate identity is maintained, with consistent use of the company logo, fonts, colors, and any other design elements. The brochure is then printed at a local printers or head office in the normal way.
